The electricity ministry is undertaking a large-scale upgrade and expansion of Egypt's transmission infrastructure in order to accommodate additional capacity expected from conventional and renewable energy sources.
It is being funded by a range of lenders, and is expected to take several years to complete.
In July, the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) signed a loan led by Banque Misr worth EGP18bn to fund upgrades.
As with all our Project Profiles, details on transmission projects are updated regularly and are frequently covered in our Daily Briefs. We also expect to add many new projects in this section over the coming months.
